Flash Games
You always here me talk about not letting your kids and grandkids play video games on your PC. Well that is very true. And except for what I am going to show you here, that is still my advice. But it is not exclusive. There are exceptions. There is a group of games called Flash games that are safe for your PC to play. I will give you a list of fun games you and your kids can play that won't cause harm to either your PC, your wallet, or I hope, your kids.
Many games are available that can be played exclusively within Internet Explorer's browser windows called Flash games. These are ok to play. They don't install to your PC, so therefore they exclude the risk of downloading a virus. Since they are not installed to the PC, they won't slow it down either.
I want to make it clear here that I am talking about games of a certain variety (Flash games), not all games. Only Flash games are safe. Games that you "download" off the internet are not what I am talking about. You can really cause problems for your PC downloading games off the internet. Downloaded games can take a really be hit on your computers resources as well and leave your computer running slower then ever from viruses.
Even store bought games can cause PCs to get gummed up. Kids like to try out games till they find the one they like, and I mean a LOT of games; and each one adds up. One, two, three or even five or six may be fine, but twenty, thirty or forty is not. That many programs of any kind on a PC will take its toll on a system. The only exception is games that can be played within Internet Explorer itself, called flash games.
Flash games are what I have listed here for you. These are safe games that WON'T take a hit on your system. Kids can play as many of these flash games as they want without harming the PC. The only type of problems that could arise from using Flash games, have to do with the add-on components to Internet Explorer. These add-ons are called Flash, Java, or Shockwave.add-ons. For many of you they are already installed and you won't need to do anything other then start playing the games. For some, you may need to install, upgrade or re-install the add-ons.
If you experience any problems with the Flash, Java or Shockwave add-ons call me. I will try to talk you through it over the phone. In a few cases I may have to come and install or upgrade the add-ons.
Parents will like these flash games because they
1. Won't slow down, or clog up the computer
2. Won't add spyware, viruses or other types of malware onto the computer
3. Won't clutter up the computer with games all over the start menu and desktop
4. Are free!
Kids will like them because they
1. Are fun, new and interesting to play.
2. Not boring
These games I have listed below require no logon, no download, or additional addons to your pc other then Java, Flash or Shockwave which are most likely already installed into Internet Explorer.
The ratings below are mine. These games do not come with ratings. I put them here so that parents can be more informed and choose what is appropriate for their kids. I have been told that Norton Internet Security Parental Control has blocked a couple of the first person shooters games listed for reason of "anonymous proxies".
